This idea to do a video edit to my poetry was inspired by Janne Robinson's 'I am a Women of Disctinction.'. Hers is absolutely beautiful and life changing...a completely other level than this and I highly recommend watching it. It combines two of the things I really enjoy doing editing video and writing poetry. Now whether or not I'm good at either of those things is debatable.
I got a new piece of film equipment and this is my first time using it. I'm learning a lot and working out the kinks. I still use iMovie to edit because I can't quite afford Premier yet...but I will be able to soon. The sound was recorded through Quicktime with my computer microphone so it is by no means polished audio work.
Overalll it was fun to play with. I don't really like it and I haven't been able to watch it all the way through. I'm working hard to not absolutely loathe the sound of my own voice. It's a work in a progress. I'm sharing it because...well, I don't really know why. Maybe because it makes me wildly uncomfortable to share. Its good practice to do things that make us uncomfortable I think.
I'm not sure if I'll continue to do these. But I will absolutely continue to write poetry and edit videos they just may not come together in the same medium again.
